Smile

May 14, 2008 · 2 Comments

Well folks, my husband has done it again. He has made my day by being an amazing husband.

My day was going okay until about 10:30 pm. I was driving home from my parents house and a crazy cop almost pulled out in front of me. She has to slam on her breaks as I drove by. She then pulled out behind me and followed me for a while before turning on her lights and and pulling me over. She then lied through her teeth and claimed that I was going 12 over the speed limit. I knew that she had been behind me the whole time so I was extra careful not to go over the speed limit. I was in the middle of assuring her that my speedometer said I was going the speed limit when she cut me off, grabbed my license, and said over her shoulder, “Well, you better get that checked.” She was totally rude and needed an attitude adjustment. She ended up just giving me a warning (she knew she had no grounds for giving me a ticket) but I was freaking out to say the least. During the ordeal I had called Scott, practically in tears, and told him what was going on.

When I got home my husband was waiting for me with a bag of donuts to cheer me up. He had made a special trip to the store just to make me feel better. He was hoping to make me smile and it worked.

An Inconvient Guilt Trip

May 12, 2008 · 5 Comments

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of this Global Warming silliness being shoved down our throats? I cannot look to my left or right with out someone or something telling me how I can “go green.” All this talk makes me want to rebel and “go black.” Tomorrow I may leave my bathroom light on ALL day. Gasp!

Let me clarify one thing. The earth’s climate changes. It has been changing for centuries. It will rise a few degrees and then it will fall a few degrees.

It is silly for us to freak out and overreact because of a .1 degree rise in temperature. People can believe what they want but it starts to get personal when people are punished and taxes are raised in order to fight global warming. Hillary Clinton wants to make it a law that everyone must reduce their energy bills by 80%. That means we will be using less energy than people in colonial times. I am not prepared to live by candle light and throw out all my appliances…sorry.

I know how the story ends, and human kind is not wiped out by the earth turning into a crock pot and slowly cooking us all to death.

Did I Miss Something?

May 7, 2008 · 4 Comments

I was a bit confused last night.

I was away for most of the evening hosting a bridal shower for a friend. When I returned home I found my husband waiting for me with a sheepish grin on his face. He was beaming as he pulled out from behind his back a dozen roses, a box of donuts, and a sappy period piece movie. I immediately started calculating what day it was, thinking that I had forgotten a major holiday (Valentines Day, wedding anniversary). I quickly came to the conclusion that it was a regular ‘ole Monday night and that my husband just wanted to show me how much he loved me. He certainly knows how to melt my heart.

He then took me out for a sushi dinner and we came home and ate the donuts while watching the movie. It was one of the best nights I have had all year.

I am madly in love with my husband.

Tired

May 5, 2008 · 3 Comments

I am such a slacker. I realize that I have not written a post in over a week so I am here to give you a few updates.

1. Scott is finally home safe and sound. I cannot put into words how good that feels. The sad thing is that we have been so busy since he got back that we feel like we have not spent good quality time together. Do not fret, we are going to carve some time out of our week to go on a date.

2. I am getting a cold yet again. My immune system must be broken because if there is a cold to catch I get it. I learned on thing today: Cookies do not make my symptoms go away but they sure do make me feel better by allowing me to forget my misery for a few minutes.

3. What am I reading right now? Thanks for asking. I am caught up in The Scarlett Pimpernel. It is a classic that I have managed to avoid reading during my school career. I saw a copy at my parents house and decided to give it a try. I am really enjoying it and am learning tons about history.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

April 27, 2008 · 13 Comments

My one true love has just left for a week long staff retreat. He has only been gone for a few hours and I am already deeply saddened. I feel like the stronger half of me is missing.  William (my dog) and I are staying with my  parents  for the week which will make things easier. Scott, come home to me soon.

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I am pretty sure that abstinence will as well.

Saturday we went on the boat and ate lunch at Mayport. On the way home we encountered dolphins…I love it when that happens.

The Magdalein Women Photo Shoot

April 21, 2008 · 3 Comments

I love these girls. The pictures are a few weeks old but I have to share them. We were celebrating my birthday/ Easter in St. Augustine and decided to live it up a bit. We have all lived near St. Augustine our whole lives and had never experienced the classic old time photo, which is almost as much of an institution as the fort itself. Yes, it was embarrassing and silly but we had plenty of laughs. I mean, how many people can actually say that they have taken a old time photo in St. Augustine? Oh wait….practically all of American can. Oh well.

30 Years

April 15, 2008 · 7 Comments

Today is my mom and dad’s wedding anniversary. They have happily been married for 30 years! I love you guys and thank you for being an example of what God intended marriage to be. You have shown it through words and action and that means the world to me and Scott.

Anniversary Wishes

May the anniversary
Wishes
That are being sent
Your way,
Remind you of the vows
You made upon your
Wedding day.

And may you hold fond
Memories
Of every passing year,
And treasure
All the good times with
The one you hold
Most dear.

May sunshine be your
Portion,
As you walk down life’s
Street.
And warmth and friendship
Follow through
To everyone you meet.

For you two are a pattern
Of what I call
Success.
For you have found that
Harmony
Has brought you
Happiness.

Spring Day

April 10, 2008 · 3 Comments

It was a 10 on the weather meter today so we decided to take a family stroll. We had a great time talking and laughing at William chasing lizards. William ran around so much that he got overheated and we ended up carrying him back to the house. A 23 pound dog gets heavy really fast so we had to take turns holding him like a baby. It was a pathetic sight.
